It looks like a workwear jacket, not a winter coat, so it's a fair question. The answer for most people in the UK is yes, with a sensible layer underneath. Here's what's doing the work, and where its limits are.

What makes it warm

Three things. The outer is Dearborn canvas, a dense cotton that blocks wind far better than you'd expect. Inside is a quilted lining that runs through the body and the sleeves, which is what separates it from lighter canvas jackets. And the hood is lined too, so it actually keeps your head warm rather than just keeping rain off.

The ribbed cuffs and longer body help as well. Cold air doesn't get in at the wrists or the waist, which matters more than people think.

Autumn: on its own

Through October and November, wear it over a tee or a light long sleeve and it'll handle most days. On milder afternoons you might find it too warm zipped up, which is where the two-way front helps.

Winter: add one layer

Once it drops towards freezing, put a hoodie or a mid-weight knit underneath. The fit is relaxed enough to take it without feeling tight across the shoulders. For a North East winter, that combination covers almost every day you'll spend walking about town, commuting or standing on a sideline.

Active or Detroit for winter

If warmth is the priority, the Active. It's longer, the lining is heavier, and the hood makes a real difference in wind. The Detroit is the better jacket for layering and looks sharper, but it's a cooler choice on its own.
