Where It Started
Triads was born in 1988 during the height of UK house music. The name comes from music—a triad is three guitar chords. Back then, people needed edgy, fashionable clothing to wear while experiencing this cultural moment. We stocked pieces that were different, that made a statement. For over 30 years, Triads became a destination for anyone who wanted fashion that was fresh, not trend-led.
A New Generation
In December 2023, the original Triads closed. One year later, in January 2024, the shop reopened under new ownership—the second generation. A 25-year-old fresh out of university, with a degree in fashion business, took the helm. It was a gamble. But the vision was simple: bring back what made Triads special, but with fresh eyes and new energy.
Two years in, we're only at the beginning. Fashion moves fast, but building something real takes time. We're not trying to replicate the past. We're honoring it while creating something different, something that feels right for now.
When Everything's Online, We're Here
The retail world is moving online. We love e-commerce—half our business lives there. But we're doubling down on in-store because that's where the magic happens. Walking through our door on Yarm High Street, you'll hear house music. You'll see pieces from brands we genuinely believe in. You'll feel an atmosphere that you can't replicate on a screen.
Old-school Triads customers from 1988 walk in and say it feels like coming home. Young people discover us because they feel something real. That's what we're building: a community, not just a shop.
