Generally, yes. Wax London says its clothing runs true to size.
That means we'd normally recommend starting with the size you usually wear rather than automatically sizing up or down.
There is one important thing to remember, though:
Not every Wax London garment is designed to fit the same way.
Some pieces are intended to be more relaxed, while others have a more regular silhouette. Fabric can also make a difference to how a garment feels when you're wearing it.
That's why we'd always look at the individual product rather than buying purely based on the letter on the label.
For most Wax London pieces, we'd start with your normal size.
From there, think about how you actually like your clothes to fit.
If you prefer things cleaner and closer to the body, you may sometimes prefer the smaller of two sizes.
If you like a more relaxed silhouette or want plenty of room for layering, going larger can make sense.
But don't automatically size up just because you're buying an overshirt.
The best approach is to check the measurements of the specific garment you're considering.
This is probably the one most people want to know about.
The Whiting Overshirt has become Wax London's signature piece and is designed to work somewhere between a shirt, a mid-layer and a jacket.
That versatility is a huge part of its appeal.

Because of that, you want enough room underneath for layering without the Whiting looking excessively oversized.

Lay your garment flat and measure straight across the chest underneath the armpits.
You can then compare that measurement with the Whiting.
For current Whiting Overshirts, the approximate chest widths are:
XS — 52cm / 20.8"
S — 54.5cm / 21.8"
M — 57cm / 22.8"
L — 59.5cm / 23.8"
XL — 62cm / 24.8"
XXL — 64.5cm / 25.8"
Remember, those are garment measurements taken flat across the chest, not your actual chest circumference.
That's an important distinction.
You don't necessarily need to measure yourself.
Grab an overshirt, casual jacket or similar piece from your wardrobe that fits exactly how you like.
Lay it flat.
Then measure:
Chest width — straight across underneath the armpits.
Shoulder width — from one shoulder seam to the other.
Sleeve length — from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Length — from the side of the neck down to the hem.
Then compare those numbers with the measurements provided for the Whiting you're considering.
We actually prefer this method because you're comparing a garment you already know fits well with the garment you're thinking about buying.
Not necessarily.
The Whiting isn't something we'd automatically recommend buying oversized.
It's designed to be versatile.
You want enough space to comfortably wear a T-shirt or lightweight knit underneath, but you don't need masses of excess fabric to get the intended look.
Your normal size should give you that classic Whiting silhouette.
If you deliberately want something baggier, then going up a size is an option.
But if this is your first Whiting, we'd start true to size.
This is worth considering when choosing your size.
If you're mainly going to wear your Whiting over a T-shirt, we'd definitely lean towards your normal size.
A simple tee underneath lets the texture and pattern of the Whiting do the work.

When the weather gets colder, you can wear the Whiting underneath a heavier coat or jacket.

The Whiting is produced in numerous fabrics, textures and weaves throughout different collections.
You'll find distinctive Pike checks, lighter fabrications and even wool-blend versions.
The fundamental measurements may be similar, but different fabrics can naturally feel and drape differently when worn.

That's another reason we'd always recommend checking the individual product rather than assuming every Whiting will feel identical.
